E-commerce is the gateway to the future. Not just businesses are being run through the internet but it also provides entertainment with initiatives such as E-sports. E-sports a form of sports competition held with videogames. Surprisingly, e-sports has gained tremendous popularity over the past few years more than a normal sport. And so it is now setting grounds for gambling and betting around the globe.
According to an online betting company that is available to bettors from Sweden, it is said that more bets are expected to be placed for an E-sport League of Legends than they are to be for an actual sports event like the European Football Champion's league. Not just this fact alone other statistics have left us amazed. In 2015 a global revenue of $325 million was generated with Esports from media rights, merchandising, tickets sold and advertising industry according to Meezoo researchers.
Although E-sports has a big market in Asia and North America. Sweden is one of the major nations involved in it said the Swedish media. Not only it has some of the greatest players in legendary Game Counterstrike like Zainab and Jonathon. It is also a country where the population bets and invests in this field. Moreover, gaming is taught as a subject and taken forward as a career.
Alex Igleman came up with statements that were no surprise yet still uneasy to gulp. He is reported to have said E-sports now competes with some of the major sports with viewership following and interest. He also speaks that many of the world’s leading bookmakers take routine bets on many e-Sports matches and although the gaming era has just begun, the betting volume already is more than that of famous sports such as golf and tennis
However, there are some obstacles to the betting community. The home grounds for betting are Asia and North America but they also have prohibitive regulations from which many firms might not take customers. Lorien Pilling who a research expert in gaming speaks that now sportsbooks will have to come up with initiatives to generate a betting interest in E-sports which isn't sports betting but still can attract a lot of audiences and can be easily managed.
Another analyst for gaming and Technology says that the very things that make E-sports famous amongst the audience might be a turnoff to the rest of the audience. For some people who have never found video gaming interesting, it will always remain boring.
Despite the struggles, the gaming community has to overcome with its audience and advertising, the strong betting community it is still expected to generate enormous revenue shortly replacing the actual sports.
I would like to end by saying E-sports might be new and doesn’t involve physical activity but it sure runs competitive tournament that excite the right audience and create an environment just like it is with traditional sports. In particular, there are no reasons for it not to reach unprecedented heights, it would bloom shortly. The future brings in big screens for us to enjoy E-sports.
