(Nasdaq: BDE) introduces its Spring 2016 Gym-To-Crag Collection, which features a versatile assortment of equipment and apparel that moves easily from the indoor environment to the natural world. In addition, Black Diamond Equipment introducesother innovative, industry-leading products including its new Camalot® Ultralights, headlamps and backpacks.

“As the sport of climbing keeps exploding in popularity and indoor climbing gyms pop up all over the country, our Spring ’16 line is poised to address the needs of the modern, urban climber,” explains Niclas Bornling, vice-president of marketing for Black Diamond Equipment. “The Gym-To-Crag Collection embraces this climber, from training to travel to top-out, with a full range of high-performance products designed with style in mind.”

Built with a selection of natural cotton and technical synthetic products, these pieces deliver performance, comfort, and style—both on and off the rock. Highlights from the Spring ’16 collection include the Solitude™ Shorts and Haystack Hoody for men and Paragon™ Pants and Cirque™ Pullover for women. Essential pieces for both men and women include the new Dawn Wall™ Hoody and Credo™ Pants and Shorts. The Dawn Wall Hoody is a lightweight hoody designed to add warmth between pitches or after a long day. The Credo Pants and Shorts feature a stretch cotton blend with loose cut to allow for uninhibited movement.

The Gym-To-Crag Collection also features streamlined, stripped-down equipment that embodies the true mountain roots of the Black Diamond® brand. Spring ’16 product highlights include the new Solution harness, designed for men and women, which incorporates Black Diamond Equipment’s Fusion Comfort Construction™, maximizing freedom of movement while also providing superior load distribution. Also new for the season are Black Diamond Equipment carabiners, belay devices, and quickdraws with assortment and color upgrades. Assorted for the Gym-to-Crag Collection, Black Diamond Equipment’s new PosiWire QuickDraw™ is durable and adaptable, easily transitioning from local sport crags to the walls of Yosemite.

For years Black Diamond Equipment has been working to improve its Camalot design, the standard for camming devices worldwide. Building on this time-tested foundation, Spring ’16’s new Camalot Ultralights are the next step in this evolution. Camalot Ultralights incorporate sculpted lobes and a patent-pending continuously looped Dyneema® core to replace the cable stem, which helps contribute to more than 25% weight savings, making them among the lightest camming units on the market.

“The Camalot Ultralight represents the most significant advancement in cam technology since the dual stem Camalot was introduced,” says Kolin Powick, Black Diamond Equipment’s climbing category director. “It is a perfect example of the advantages of Black Diamond Equipment’s recent repatriation of equipment production to Salt Lake: product innovation from design to manufacturing – all under the same roof.”

Additional new equipment product highlights include:

  • Spot™, Cosmo™ and Gizmo™, a trio of totally redesigned headlamps, which will offer sleek new housing designs, purpose-built features, and ease-of-use. All feature increased lumen outputs of 50% or higher.
  • Highlights from the lantern category include the Moji™ Charging Station, an ultra-bright basecamp lantern with a three-way power source and Moji XP, a mid-sized lantern featuring 150 lumens of 360-degrees of light.
  • The Ascent Series packs (Mission™, Speed™ and Speed Zip™), which have been redesigned to run the gamut from essentials-only alpine rucksacks to expedition-size load haulers.

“Black Diamond Equipment is a company of makers,” says Tim Bantle, managing director of Black Diamond Equipment. “Whether it’s our Camalot Ultralight, our Solution harnesses featuring Fusion Comfort Construction™, or this season’s sportswear collection emphasizing freedom of movement and style, this represents a holistic collection of tools made for climbers whose passion is integrated into every aspect of daily life.”
