SYDNEY, March 25, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- The Brattle Group has welcomed Hans Weemaes as a Principal in the firm's Financial Services & Markets and Regulatory Investigations & Enforcement practices. A former economist for Australia's Federal Treasury, Mr. Weemaes brings over two decades of experience advising clients on complex commercial litigation, shareholder disputes, and regulatory investigations.

Specializing in applying economic and managerial accounting frameworks to issues arising in litigation, Mr. Weemaes has consulted on a wide range of matters, from large-scale shareholder litigations and class actions to M&A investigations and contractual disputes. His clients have included Australian and US state and federal government agencies, lawyers, nonprofits, multilateral organizations, and corporations.

Mr. Weemaes has served as an expert witness in numerous securities class actions and arbitrations in Australia and the United States, including in complex matters involving reparations and mutual funds. His expertise extends to cost allocation and estimation, but-for cost and profit estimates, excessive fees and predatory pricing, causation and economic damages analyses, financial forensic analysis, and data analytics.

Mr. Weemaes is a Chartered Financial Analyst and Certified Management Accountant. Prior to joining Brattle, he was a Director, Head of Economics & Data Analytics at a forensic accounting firm in Brisbane, and he previously worked at an international economics consultancy in the US. He began his career as a Trade Specialist at Australia's Department of Foreign Affairs and Economic Analyst for the Federal Treasury.
