In order to fully understand the nature of cars belonging to a particular brand, it is necessary to trace the entire history of the company's development. The history of Renault allows us to judge the greatness of this automotive giant and explains the popularity of cars of this brand among motorists around the world.

To date, Renault has the status of one of the largest automotive companies owned by France. At its factories, it manufactures cars of various classes and designs: sports cars, trucks, cars. The head office of the famous Renault is located in a small town on the outskirts of Paris - Boulogne-Billancourt.

The first step towards success

The first car in the history of Renault was assembled by master Louis Renault in 1898. It was a light vuaturet with a capacity of 0.75 liters. from. Then the designer released a new car, which is now called "model A". The designer equipped it with a De Dion engine on a tubular frame, the power of which was 1.75 liters. from.

Hard times

The history of Renault during the difficult and long World War II almost ended. In 1946, the world got acquainted with the 4CV model, which became quite popular among French citizens. In 1949, the reconstruction of the destroyed factories came to an end, and by 1954 more than 500,000 new 4CVs had already been released.

In 1958, a new plant was launched in Cleon, which produced Renault engines. At the same time, one of the company's models was called the "people's car" due to its popularity among the French. This honor was awarded to a small front-wheel drive Renault 4. Its production volumes amounted to about 8 million units.

Already in the early 70s, the company begins to develop at a rapid pace, new factories are being built, and two models of cars of this brand become the best-selling French cars in the world. At the end of this decade, Renault is going to conquer the American market and win the love of Americans. To do this, management enter into a deal with American Motors Corporation.

Already in 1982, one of the Renault models becomes the car of the year in the USA. Thus, it is natural that this car managed to light up in the film about the famous spy James Bond.

In 1984, the company introduced its Renault Espace minivan in Brussels. In 1988, the world saw the all-wheel drive model Quadra.

An important place in the production of Renault cars is occupied by trucks. Citroen's Heavy Truck Division was incorporated into the company.

In 1986, the next new generation of cars of this brand, Renault 21, rolled off the assembly line, and in 1988 Renault 19 appeared. This car has rightfully become one of the most popular C-class cars in Europe.

Until today, one of the best-selling Renault models in his native France remains the Clio model released in 1990. It was modernized only after eight years. At the moment, special versions of Clio Symbol are being produced specifically for export to the Russian market. It is worth noting that this model in 1991 received the title of "Car of the Year".

It was in 1991 in Frankfurt that the company presented a new concept model Scenic to the fans. Then several new models were released in 1993, 1994 and 1995. All of them have found their customers and fans. Many of them are criticized by experts, but no one will argue with their practicality and comfort.

By purchasing any Renault car, you will always be confident in it, as in yourself! This is a great choice for those who know a lot about French cars.
