BOULDER, Colo. (Dec 2, 2015) — La Sportiva, makers of the world’s finest mountain products for over 80 years, announces new training capsules and innovative fabrics in the apparel category for Fall 2016. Highlighting iconic pieces that pair well together, La Sportiva’s first capsule collection targets ski mountaineers and backcountry skiers with technical apparel that will fit their needs.

“La Sportiva’s apparel program has grown steadily each year and we’ve bolstered our offerings with new collections and materials for Fall 2016,” says Jonathan Lantz, president of La Sportiva North America. “Our training capsules pull together some of our best pieces for winter training, whether it’s for skimo racing, fitness skinning, or ice climbing. We’re also bringing Pontetorto’s performance fabrics into the line to add a new dimension to our apparel.”

La Sportiva’s new Training Capsules are collections designed to enhance training in all varieties of cold-weather conditions. Both the men and women’s capsules include several jacket options, a pant, baselayer and vest. The new men and women’s Task Hybrid Jackets, which are lightweight, highly-breathable thermal layers with Primaloft for additional warmth, are the highlight of the capsules. They will retail for $139.

Founded in 1952, Italian textile company Pontetorto™ was the first European mill to develop pile fleece fabrics in activewear. Fast forward 50 years and their Tecnostretch fabric adds an innovative ceramic coating to the performance fleece, making it resistant to pilling and snagging, while providing ample insulation value. Pontetorto Tecnostretch is utilized in the new La Sportiva men’s Source Hoody and the women’s Gamma Hoody: quick drying thermal mid-layers designed for aerobic use in colder temperatures, which will retail for $139. Tecnostretch will also be used in the new men’s Orbit Jacket and the women’s Starship Jacket that retail for $135.

Building out the insulation collection are the Men’s Asteroid Primaloft™ and Women’s Lulin Primaloft jackets. Body mapped Primaloft Silver insulation provides optimal thermal regulation while the clean design and quick access pockets make this product extremely versatile for everyday use. Both will retail for $249.

Adjusting to market feedback, La Sportiva has also completely overhauled its pants selection for Fall 2016. With six new styles for both men and women, ranging from slim, soft-shell pants to hard-shell GORE-TEX offerings, the lineup of pants has been adjusted to provide a more versatile fit, suitable for every backcountry user.

The full line of Fall 2016 La Sportiva products, including footwear and apparel for climbing, hiking, mountaineering and mountain running, will be on display throughout the 2016 Outdoor Retailer Winter Market at the La Sportiva booth #15027.
