Vermouth tasting menu introduced at Affäre; 4-course menu announced for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day

Affäre offers 7 fortified wines on its new Vermouth tasting menu, will be open for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (Dec. 8, 2015) – Affäre introduces a new Vermouth tasting menu in time for the holiday season with seven different Vermouth drinks that will be offered through the winter months. The menu features fortified wines like the Chinato from Piedmont, Italy or the Imbue, Petal and Thorn from Gaston, Oregon. Guests wanting to take advantage of the diversity of the full tasting menu can enjoy a flight of four for $12.

Guests can now enjoy the Vermouth menu during Affäre’s new hours. The restaurant is now open for dinner on Sundays until 9 p.m. and all day on Mondays from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., now only closed during Saturday lunch.

Contratto Bianco

Slight sweetness with flavors of hawthorn flower, marjoram, chamomile, sweet clover and bergamot

Contratto Rosso

Complex, with a sultry tartness and flavors of coriander, clover, cinnamon, angelica root and orange peel.

Lacuesta Rojo

Haro, Spain

Aromatic notes of vanilla and chamomile and a perfect balance of bitterness, sweetness and acidity.

Carpano Antica Formula

Piedmont, Italy

Rich and complex, aromas of mint, plums, figs, bitter chocolate and toffee. 

Lacuesta Reserva

Acacia

Haro, Spain

Bitter orange peel with black chocolate and sweetness of toasted sugar and absinthe. Soft and mellow finish.

Imbue, Petal & Thorn

Gaston, Oregon

Aromas of chamomile and orange peel are contradicted by pine and cinnamon. Finishes with an assertive bitterness. 

Mancino, Chinato

Piedmont, Italy

Dark in color, it offers lingering flavors of bitters, coffee, dark chocolate, plums and tobacco.

Christmas Eve and Christmas Day Menu

Affäre also announces its Christmas Eve and Christmas Day four-course, pre fixe menu. Guests can enjoy three courses and a dessert with wine pairings for $95 or the pre fixe menu without the wine pairings for $65.  In addition to the special pre fixe menu on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, Affäre will also offer its popular brunch on Christmas Day, from 10 a.m. to 2:30 pm. Affäre will be open regular hours on Christmas Eve and for brunch and dinner on Christmas day.

About Affäre

Located in the heart of the Crossroads Arts District, Affäre is Kansas City’s home for authentic contemporary German cuisine.
