  • Written by: Pitch Engine

According to the new market research report the Asia Pacific Acoustic Wave Sensor Market report defines and segments the concerned market with analysis and forecast of revenue. This market is projected to reach $390 million by 2019, at a CAGR of 32.8% from 2014 to 2019.

For acoustic wave devices, there is a change in oscillation frequency when there is response from the device to the input stimulus. Acoustic wave sensors work on piezoelectric principle, an input inter-digitated transducer on one side of the surface of the substrate, and an output inter-digitated transducer on the other side of the substrate. The acoustic wave sensor market is segmented by technology into two types, nameley surface acoustic wave (SAW) sensor and bulk acoustic wave (BAW) sensor; and by sensing parameter such as temperature, pressure, mass, torque, humidity, viscosity, and chemical vapor acoustic wave sensors.

The acoustic wave sensors have wide range of applications in automotive, military & aerospace, industrial sector, healthcare, and consumer electronics. The industrial sector holds the largest market share of the acoustic wave sensor market and is estimated to grow at a CAGR of 32.7% from 2014 to 2019. Automotive applications held the second largest share with market size of $41.6 million in 2014 and the number is expected to touch $171.6 million by 2019, at an estimated CAGR of 30.9% from 2014 to 2019. Apart from these two applications, acoustic wave sensors are widely used in consumer electronics as well. And the growing demand of consumer electronics, at a highest CAGR of 37%, implies that the application is going to drive the acoustic wave sensors market in APAC. The growth of acoustic wave sensors in consumer electronics is mainly due to their growing number of applications in smartphones, tablets, and the other portable devices. China and Japan, being the largest producers of smartphones and other consumer electronics in the world, are expected to dominate the acoustic wave sensor market for consumer electronics in terms of unit shipments.
