AURORA, Colo. – January 15, 2016 – American Sentinel University and the Colorado Hospital Association (CHA) recently named Gentry Mansur, RN, BSN, MBA, CMSRN, director, medical/surgical/telemetry at Platte Valley Medical Center as the December Colorado Health Care Stars Award Winner. This award recognizes Mansur as an exceptional health care professional.
Colorado Health Care Stars is a statewide health care professional award recognition program sponsored by American Sentinel University and CHA. The program was launched in February 2015 to acknowledge clinical professionals in Colorado who exceed expectations in the delivery of health care.
Mansur is a registered nurse and manages a busy inpatient unit at Platte Valley Medical Center that admits a broad variety of medical, surgical, trauma and cardiac telemetry patients and has engendered complete credibility with staff and physicians through her consistent engagement as a true ‘servant leader.’
“Gentry is quite simply the finest registered nurse that I’ve encountered in my 25 years in health care,” says Kurt Gensert, COO/CNO, Platte Valley Medical Center. “She is unique amongst her peers in several ways. First and foremost, she exudes a natural and authentic empathy that is so often, and ironically, lacking in many caregivers.”
Gensert says it is not unusual to see Mansur presenting a polished, professional report at a quality improvement meeting one hour, and then see her carrying a complete patient load alongside her staff to offset the patient churn effect of concurrent discharge and admission activity the next.
Mansur received high praise for her ability to round on her staff and patients faithfully, acting quickly on follow-up items and implementing action plans with expediency and urgency.
“Gentry’s passion and enthusiasm are persuasively contagious. She brings out the best in her staff, her patients, and her peers. She is an amazing person, nurse, and leader and epitomizes the often-touted but rarely exemplified notion of patient-centered care,” adds Gensert.
