A reception for the art series will be held at the Doughnut Lounge from 4 – 7 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 27

 

Kansas City, Mo. (Feb. 18, 2016) – Doughnut Lounge’s industrial-modern interior now displays a 12-piece, three-dimensional art series by locally renowned artist, John Raux. The series titled Formational Movements explores formal and philosophical boundaries through movement with the positive and negative spaces of both two and three-dimensional forms.

Doughnut Lounge, along with artist John Raux, will host a special reception for the “Formational Movement” series from 4 – 7 p.m. on Saturday, February 27. Complimentary wine and doughnut bites will be available for guests. Happy hour specials will be featured from 4 – 6 p.m. during the reception. Specials include $2 yard beers, $2 off classic cocktails and $1 off all cocktails.

About the Artist

John Raux was born in Dakar, Senegal, and now calls Kansas City home. He travels on foot, skateboard and bicycle to discover the people, culture and natural wonders of the world. His many adventures overseas, on the road and in the wilderness culminate his art practice. He studied at Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California. He received the ArtsKC Inspiration award in 2014 and Paint the District Award in 2009. Raux owned The Forum, a participatory gallery in the Crossroads district, from 2002 to 2004. This past year he helped design and create the bars and displays at Dolce Baking Company, Tom’s Town Distillery and Mills Record Company with local, custom furniture designer, RWT Design and Fabrication.

Located in the heart of Westport, Doughnut Lounge is Kansas City’s shop for one-of-a-kind doughnuts. Owner and operator Jake Randall created Doughnut Lounge as a space for community, creativity and conversation over unique doughnuts, coffee and cocktails from the full bar. The doughnut shop features Classic, Signature and Nodut (a.k.a. Knife-And-Fork Doughnuts) doughnuts, all created by the leader in the kitchen, Executive Chef Tye Eckert.
