Hattie Larlham’s Tonnie Alliance Receives NSME Award

(TWINSBURG, Ohio) Feb. 27, 2016 – On Tuesday, Feb. 23, 2016, Hattie Larlham Corporate Relations and Major Gift Officer Tonnie Alliance received the Achievements in Excellence Award (formerly DSMA®) from the Akron/Canton affiliate of National Sales & Marketing Executives™ (NSME). Alliance was one of only 30 professionals in the region to receive the honor at the 44th annual Accent on Excellence gala at the Tangier in Akron.

According to NSME, Alliance and the other winners were selected for their “community and civic involvement, professional experience and demonstrated performance.”

“Tonnie is fully deserving of this prestigious recognition,” said Cathe Schwartz, Hattie Larlham chief development officer. “She is dedicated to building, maintaining and expanding relationships with corporate partners who help support the organization’s mission.  She also thinks outside-the-box to help Hattie Larlham appeal to new donors.” 

As nonprofit organizations search for new ways to fundraise in an increasingly competitive landscape, Alliance conceived Over the Edge for Hattie Larlham.  The event gives participants who raise $1,500 dollars the experience of rappelling a skyscraper in Northeast Ohio.  During the past two years in Akron, Over the Edge for Hattie Larlham generated more than $225,000 in support of the people with intellectual and developmental disabilities that the organization serves.  

In 2016, Alliance will be actively involved as Hattie Larlham takes the event to Cleveland on the Fourth of July weekend.  The first 100 people who register at overtheedge.hattielarlham.org and meet their fundraising goal will rappel the Westin Cleveland Downtown on Saturday, July 2.

Alliance is a 2014 graduate of the Civic Leadership Institute, which is part of the Cleveland Leadership Center.  She sits on the institute’s Leadership Council, and is part of the Cultivation Committee.  She is also a member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals, Advisory Council of the YWCA of Greater Cleveland, the Cleveland Chapter of Rotary International, The City Club, Sales & Marketing Executives of Cleveland, the RNC Host Committees Speakers Bureau and is a past member of the WISE Board of Directors.

Prior to joining Hattie Larlham, Alliance served the American Diabetes Association’s Northeast Ohio Chapter and the American Cancer Society.  

Aside from her professional endeavors, Alliance is active in yoga, weight training, boxing, rock wall climbing and mixed martial arts.  She currently holds the 2014 and 2015 100% RAW Powerlifting World Titles in her category and holds three world records as well as the 2013 and 2014 USA Powerlifting Federations Championship records for the state of Ohio.
