6th annual Kentucky Derby parties on May 7 at two Taverns for the ‘Greatest two minutes in sports’

PRAIRIE VILLAGE, KAN. (April 5, 2016) – Guests are encouraged to break out their hats, bowties, suits, fancy dresses and other traditional derby attire for the Tavern in the Village and Tavern at Mission Farms Sixth Annual Kentucky Derby Parties. The Taverns invite Kansas City to experience the greatest two minutes in sports on Saturday May 7, 2016 from 3 to 6 p.m. The parties will feature an extended happy hour, Derby dishes and drink specials from locally owned Union Horse Distillery and Woodford Reserve.

Honoring Kentucky Derby traditions and adding to the fun, guests will draw names of competing horses every 30 minutes for chances to win prizes at the conclusion of the party. In addition to prizes given away throughout the event, fun giveaways will also be awarded for biggest and most fashionable hat.

Derby Day Parties

When:              Saturday, May 7 from 3 – 6 p.m.

Attire:              Embrace the Southern tradition with oversized hats, colorful bowties, bright colored suits and other traditional derby attire.

Where:             Tavern in the Village, 3901 Prairie Lane in The Village Shops in Prairie Village, Kan.,

                        Tavern at Mission Farms, 10681 Mission Road at Mission Farms in Leawood, Kan.

What:               The public is invited to attend the 6th Annual Kentucky Derby Parties at the two Taverns. Guests are encouraged to dress the part and enjoy drink specials, Derby dishes, extended happy hour and prizes during the event.

Prizes:             Each guest in attendance will randomly draw a contending Kentucky Derby horse name every 30 minutes leading up to the race for the chance to win prizes. Throughout the event, guests will receive prizes for their attire and other Kentucky Derby-inspired categories. Winners of the Kentucky Derby horse contest will be announced immediatley following the conclusion of the Derby. Guests must be present to win.
