JACKSON HOLE, WYOMING | May 26, 2015 —The Grand Teton Music Festival is proud to present international opera superstar Renée Fleming for a gala performance with the Festival Orchestra on Wednesday, July 29 at 7pm. This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to hear one of the world’s greatest classical performers in Jackson Hole. It is the “must see” event of the year in the community.

The program includes several of Ms. Fleming’s favorite well-known arias as well as songs from Broadway. A regular performer on the world’s grandest stages, this is a unique opportunity to experience Ms. Fleming’s radiant voice and compelling artistry in a venue as intimate and warm as the 700-seat Walk Festival Hall.

Tickets are $85 and include a complimentary beverage at intermission. Tickets go on sale June 2 at 10am and can be purchased at GTMF.org or by calling 307-733-1128. This gala event is sure to sell out and we recommend that you purchase tickets early.

Ms. Fleming, known for her sumptuous voice, consummate artistry, and compelling stage presence, has appeared in concert and in operas on every major stage in the world. Her most recent triumph includes the role of Hanna in The Merry Widow at the Metropolitan Opera—a role which she will reprise this fall at the Lyric Opera in Chicago. Additional signature roles for which Ms. Fleming have received wide acclaim include Countess Almaviva in Mozart’s Le Nozze di Figaro, Desdemona in Verdi’s Otello, Violetta in Verdi’s La Traviata, the title role in Dvorak’s Rusalka, and the Marschallin in Der Rosenkavalier.

Ms. Fleming is among a handful of classical artists who have transcended her art to reach millions of adoring fans worldwide. A frequent performer at high profile events, Ms. Fleming was the first classical artist to sing at a Super Bowl (2014). She sand at the Beijing Olympics (2008), and also on the balcony of Buckingham Palace in the Diamond Jubilee Concert for HM Queen Elizabeth II. Fans of the Metropolitan Opera’s Live in HD series also know her as a charismatic, charming host to these lavish, big screen productions. Ms. Fleming is also the recipient of the 2013 National Medal of the Arts, America's highest honor for an individual artist.

After hearing that his long-time collaborator Renée Fleming had an opening in her schedule, GTMF Music Director Donald Runnicles invited her to perform as part of a special, gala event—an invitation Ms. Fleming happily accepted. Guest conductor Edo de Waart leads the Festival Orchestra for this concert at the request of Maestro Runnicles who will be appearing at the Proms in London that week with the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra.

About the Grand Teton Music Festival (GTMF): Each summer the Grand Teton Music Festival reunites a celebrated orchestra of musicians led by Music Director, Donald Runnicles. With full symphony orchestra concerts on weekends and smaller ensembles including groups playing guitar, fiddle and harmonica on weeknights, GTMF is seven weeks of musical bliss!
