SALT LAKE CITY, Utah (September 29, 2015) — Petzl today named Verde Brand Communications as its North American agency of record for brand communications. Petzl tapped Verde to grow its Sport and Professional brand divisions and increase product awareness in trade, endemic, and broad markets.

“Since the 1970s, Petzl has manufactured the world’s finest, precision-engineered product for everything from exploration to rope access to rescue. Our solutions enable explorers and professionals to achieve their goals whether underground, atop a peak, or at the tip of a wind turbine,” said Dave Hugar, North American marketing director for Petzl. “Verde is the perfect partner to help us share our brand’s storied heritage and next-generation products.”

Verde will employ traditional and digital public relations strategies and campaigns for Petzl. The Verde team will work closely with Petzl’s marketing team to communicate category-leading product collections, as well as execute business initiatives through highly integrated strategies.

Petzl’s North American headquarters is based in Salt Lake City, UT. The family-owned company traces its roots to underground exploration. In 1956 founder Fernand Petzl set a world depth record of -3,681 feet (1122 meters) in the Gouffre Berger, an extensive cave system near his home in France. From the start, Petzl has strived to create products that allow people to access some of the most inaccessible places above and below ground.

“Our team understands the changing dynamics of consumer engagement and the importance of furthering the growth and positioning of Petzl’s Sport and Professional divisions,” said Kristin Carpenter-Ogden, CEO of Verde Brand Communications. “We will grow Petzl’s retail and consumer relationships via our proven integrated approach of traditional, digital and content-based tactics.

Verde Brand Communications is a full-service agency offering services in public relations, digital media, content development, marketing, paid media, branding, events, and strategic consulting. Verde works with more than 40 brands in the outdoor, active lifestyle, cycling, snowsports, action sports, consumer electronics, and wellness markets. It has offices in Durango and Boulder, Colorado; Jackson, Wyoming; and Sun Valley, Idaho.

Petzl®For over 40 years, Petzl has developed innovative tools and techniques used by those who work and play in the vertical world. Today, the Petzl brand is closely associated with adventure, exploration, rescue, and many notable exploits in the worlds of rock climbing, caving, and alpinism. In the professional market, Petzl is a world leader in work at height, fire and rescue, and tactical equipment and techniques. A family-owned business, Petzl is committed not only to quality and innovation, but also to giving back to the communities that have made us so successful.
