Birthday ideas for big boys

We all know that big boys love their toys. Between buying the latest gadgets and having fun with adult games and activities, men can spend a fortune on themselves each year. But this doesn’t mean that they are easy to shop for when birthdays roll around. In fact, they can be very hard to find meaningful gifts for – especially the well-to-do types who already appear to have everything. But don’t despair, with a little bit of thought and a degree of consideration it is always possible to find the ideal item. To help spark that inspiration, here are a few ideas to set you on the path to success.

Add some style

Almost every modern male has a computer. It might be something that he shares with his family or it might be his own personal property. In many instances he may have a desktop and a laptop, such is the prevalence of digital technology these days. But computers are no longer just bland black boxes that sit on a desk and get used for spreadsheets and browsing the web, they have become so much more. In fact, laptops and desktops have both become vehicles for self-expression with many guys now fitting their machines into designer cases. There are so many options available with the best computer cases available online potentially selling for more than a bottom of the range machine. So, if you are looking to lend some cyber style to your man’s hardware, this could be the way to go.

Boy games

Just as little boys like to compete and play imaginary games, so too do big boys. The only difference is that big boys do it with bigger toys. In this realm there are so many things to consider, from a nice foosball table, to air hockey, a basketball hoops or a paintball tagger. So many options. Even darts or a pool table can work, although think this one through carefully. Table tennis or pool are both great games and there are very few lads who don’t enjoy playing them, but not every house has a place that can accommodate such large units.

Gadgets that talk

Personalised digital assistants like Amazon’s Alexa, Apple’s Siri or Google’s Assistant are all great devices to play around with. There is nothing quite so cool as coming home to a house where the temperature has been controlled, the oven preheated, burglar alarm de-activated and your personal choice of music is playing. In some places these devices are already de rigueur and as such they might be old news, but if they are still relatively new technology where you are, make the investment – you will have your man purring and eating out of your hand for a long time.

Kitchen things

Traditionally items for the kitchen are regarded as gifts for women, but this is very old-school thinking. Men love gadgets and devices and, following on the lead from the likes of Jamie Oliver and Gordon Ramsay and others, they are also spending more and more time preparing meals. So, look for something cool and trendy that can be both manly and a talking point. Fancy wine openers, coffee makers or meat tenderizers. Or even just a recipe book if you think he needs a bit of motivation to do more in the kitchen.
