How To Make Your New House Feel Homely After The Move

  • Written by: Daily Bulletin

Moving into a new house can be overwhelming. But with a few simple steps, you can make your house feel like home in no time. From decorating and reorganising to creating a cosy atmosphere, this guide will help you turn your new place into your own special haven. And remember, to make the entire moving process easier on yourself, make sure you hire the best packers and movers in Melbourne!

Start with the Necessities

Before you begin decorating your new space, take some time to make sure you have all the basics in place. Make sure all your appliances are running and functioning properly, including your oven, refrigerator, washing machine and dryer. If any of these need repair or replacement, now is the time to do it! Once everything is set up and working correctly, you can move on to the fun stuff.

Welcome Yourself Home

When you move in, take some time to christen the new place by doing something special for yourself. This could be anything from burning some incense or lighting candles to playing music that makes you feel good and brings back memories. Whatever it is that helps make you feel at home, do it!

Organise & Decorate

Another great way to make yourself feel at home is by organising and decorating the space. Take some time to really plan out what furniture pieces will go where, and don’t forget to get creative with decorating! Making sure everything has its own place in the house will help keep things neat and organised, while also giving you a chance to express your personal style. Investing in quality storage furniture can also help create an inviting ambiance.

Create a Cosy Atmosphere

Making your house cosy doesn’t have to be expensive or complicated - it just takes small touches here and there to make it happen. Some ideas include adding blankets and pillows around the house, displaying photos of friends and family members on shelves or walls, hanging up art or prints that bring you joy, adding plants for natural elements (and oxygen!), investing in comfortable furniture pieces that are both stylish and inviting, etc. The possibilities are endless when it comes to making your house comfortable!

Create Ambiance with Lighting & Colour

Lighting has a huge impact on mood and atmosphere - strategically placed lamps can instantly transform any room from dull and lifeless into something warm and inviting. Consider adding wall sconces above door frames or around mirrors for extra light during evening hours - this will also help conserve energy by lowering the amount of electricity needed for overhead lighting fixtures. Finally, use colour throughout your home (on walls, furniture pieces and accents) for a cohesive look that ties everything together nicely!

Ready to get started?

Moving into a new house can be intimidating, but also exciting at the same time! With these tips, you should have no problem turning your new place into a real home that truly reflects who you are as an individual. Don’t forget - the most important thing is to make sure you’re happy with how everything looks so you can really enjoy living in your new space. Good luck!
