A trip to the doctor is never the highlight of anyone’s day. You’ve got to rearrange your schedule to allow for it, sit in a waiting room, then allow extra time for travel to get to and from the appointment. Telehealth, which involves using technology to conduct your appointment by video or phone, has transformed the average person’s medical appointment experience. The number of benefits available by utilising such a service may just surprise you.

It’s Now Widely Available

Before 24-7Medcare Telehealth Services came along, being able to talk to your doctor on a video call was a rare occurrence. While the technology has existed for several years, a face-to-face appointment was always a preference.

As a result, not every health clinic would offer such a service, and it was certainly not one that every patient knew they could access. Now, in part due to the COVID-19 pandemic, telehealth services are more prevalent than ever before. It doesn’t matter whether you live in a remote town or a densely-populated city; you can request a telemedicine appointment if your issue warrants it.

It’s Suitable for a Variety of Appointment Types

There will always be problems that require in-person visits with a GP, such as procedures and conditions that require physical touch. However, there are also a large number of issues that a doctor can solve or offer advice for by merely talking to you on a mobile phone, computer, or tablet.

Repeat prescriptions, referral letters, chronic disease management, general health advice, and mental health check-ins are all topics that your doctor can cover without seeing you in person. As a result, you only have to set aside a small amount of time in your day – without leaving your home or office.

It Can Sometimes Be Cheaper

Depending on the problems you’re facing and the level of care you require, you may discover that the average telehealth appointment is more affordable than an in-person one. The monetary savings may be even more significant if your typical in-person appointment also includes travel costs and time off work. Some medical clinics can also charge less because they are not using resources they would typically use with patients visiting their clinic.

Wider Access to Experts

It’s a well-known fact that living in a remote or rural location may limit your access to critical public services. While telemedicine may not bridge the gap entirely, it can allow you to make your health a priority with far more convenience.

In the past, you may have even needed to travel long distances to speak to specialists. Knowing how inconvenient that could be, you might have put off such appointments to the detriment of your health. You won’t have access to every specialist type on a telehealth appointment, but location is now no longer a barrier to accessing those that do offer telehealth appointments.

Telehealth is becoming more popular by the day, with convenient access, affordable appointment costs, and broader access than ever before. If you have a general health concern you’d like to discuss, now might be the right time to experience a telehealth appointment for yourself.
