Owning a home, an aesthetically pleasing home, for that matter, is something most homeowners want. It feels good getting compliments of how beautiful your home looks when someone steps onto your property. Among many other things that you can do to make your home beautiful, installing synthetic turf is something you should definitely try.

Many homeowners now prefer synthetic turf compared to naturally growing grass. This is because, besides the aesthetics of the synthetic turf, it also has low maintenance. However, this does not mean that you should not take care of it. Remember, the turf is also susceptible to some wear and tear. In this piece, we will be looking at how your synthetic turf can stay in top condition;

1. Remove the debris

You will need to remove debris from your artificial turf from time to time. If the grass is installed in your backyard, for example, you will need to clear out the leaves and stems that fall off from the trees. You can use a rake or a leaf blower to get the job done. For the big stems that might fall on the grass, you can easily pick them up and dispose of them. The debris if left for a long time may end up decaying.

2. Brush the turf

How often you brush the turf depends on several factors including, the traffic of the area where it is installed, if you have pets, children, and so on. Brushing the synthetic turf helps to remove debris, maintain its aesthetics and prevents it from getting matted. You can use a soft brush to do this to avoid plucking the grass. Also, when brushing, ensure that you do it against the grain.

3. Remove Stubborn stains

After hosting a few friends in your backyard for a barbeque or even after a simple family dinner, there might be a few spills here and there. If possible, try and clean out any spillage immediately with a mild detergent, then rinse with a little water. For the tough stains such as grease, oil, and ink, you can try removing them using mineral spirits then rinse them out with water.

If you have pets in your home, you might find their droppings from time to time. Quickly remove the waste and use soapy water to clean the area. To get rid of the waste’s foul odor, use turf spray after cleaning.

4. Use the right cleaning equipment

The equipment you use to clean your synthetic turf is paramount. Do not use a metal rake as it will destroy the turf; instead, you can use a plastic rake. A lawn vacuum also comes in handy to remove debris and dust. The detergents you use while cleaning the turf also should be mild.

Proper maintenance of the synthetic turf will ensure that it serves you for a good number of years. You can choose to clean the turf daily, weekly, or monthly depending on its state.
