STOCKHOLM (April 4, 2016) – MIPS, the patented Multi-directional Impact Protection System, announces that it will strengthen its presence in the motocross market and partner with O’Neal to release a new full-face motocross helmet. The high performance 10Series helmet will feature the integrated MIPS system for improved rider safety.

“We spend countless hours in the research and development of our products, so when it came time to significantly evolve our helmet program, partnering with MIPS became the clear path to take,” said John Firth, O’Neal Head of Marketing. “I could not be more excited and proud to be one of the pioneers to bring MIPS technology to motocross helmets. This is an incredible leap forward for us and the MX industry in dramatically increasing awareness around head injuries.”

The 10Series with MIPS, built for racers and serious riders at a great value, features a lightweight fiberglass shell construction and weighs only 1200g. Multiple vents, oversized EPS channels and an ultra plush, moisture-wicking padded liner keeps the rider cool and dry in warm conditions.

“We have partnered with O’Neal because their inspired design and technology puts rider safety as a top priority,” says Johan Thiel, MIPS CEO. “We expect the partnership will introduce MIPS to riders across the globe and will strengthen our mission for setting a new helmet safety standard in the moto industry.”

MIPS is a patented protection system that comes from years of studying the human brain. The brain is surrounded by a protective cerebrospinal fluid that allows it to slip and rotate within the head when exposed to an angled impact. By mimicking the cerebrospinal fluid, MIPS creates a sliding layer between the helmet and the head. This reduces the rotational force otherwise transmitted to the brain. The combination of the brain’s protection and MIPS provides better protection from angled impacts.

The 10Series is available now at select European retailers for €299.95.
