COMMEMORATIVE EVENTS WITH DECEASED ANIMALS SCHEDULED IN EIGHT NORTH AMERICAN CITIES ON MAY 30, 2015

LOS ANGELES (May 22, 2015) – Animal lovers across the country will gather for emotionally stirring ceremonies on May 30th in observance of the 5th annual NATIONAL ANIMAL RIGHTS DAY (www.TheNARD.org).

In a visually shocking display, the activities will kick-off with a public requiem ceremony in which hundreds of individuals will stand in unified formation cradling the bodies of real animals who died as a result of human abuse and exploitation. These animals, including chickens, pigs, cats, dogs, goats, birds and many others, will then be wrapped in white sheets and carried away in a funeral procession by the participating activists.

During the event, The Declaration of Animal Rights will be unveiled, proclaimed by children and signed. This 100-foot long scroll pronounces the rights of all animals and bears thousands of signatures from people around the world, in multiple languages, in support of the rights of animals.

Local events are scheduled on May 30th in Los Angeles, CA; San Francisco, CA; Seattle, WA; Colorado Springs, CO; Toronto and Ottawa, Canada. Additional events are scheduled on June 7th in New York, NY and Northampton, MA.

Organized by non-profit Our Planet. Theirs Too., the ceremony is intended to show the public first-hand the results of our society’s brutal treatment of animals, and to commemorate the 50 billion animals who are killed every year in the U.S., for food, their fur and skins, laboratory tests, and entertainment. Similar events have been held in Spain, Germany, Austria, Italy, Israel, and Australia.
