On Wed. May 20, 228 golfers participated in the 29th annual Sugar Bush Golf Classic which benefits people with developmental disabilities at Hattie Larlham. The golf classic, presented by The Middlefield Banking Company and Sugar Bush Golf Club, raised more than $50,000 for people with developmental disabilities. Each year, the Sugar Bush Golf Club in Garrettsville, Ohio donates the course to the event.

“The work they’ve [Hattie Larlham] been doing for decades out there has been remarkable and groundbreaking,” said Sugar Bush Golf Classic Committee Chair Jonathan Goldston. “We are happy to support this golf outing which raises funds for Hattie Larlham programs.”

Hattie Larlham provides medical, residential, work training and recreational services to more than 1,500 people with developmental disabilities in Northeast Ohio. The Sugar Bush Golf Classic raised funds for Hattie Larlham’s pediatric ventilator program and Hattie’s Creative Arts.

Cleveland Indians Senior VP for Public Affairs Bob DiBiasio and Co-Host of WTAM 1100’s Wills & Snyder in the Morning Bill Wills were celebrity hosts and golfers at the tournament. The event featured both afternoon and morning rounds of golf, which were followed by lunch and dinner awards ceremonies respectively.

This year’s tournament is dedicated in memory to Pershing Charles “Persh” Rohrer, one of the Sugar Bush Golf Classic founders. Since its inception in 1986, the event has raised more than $750,000 for people with developmental disabilities at Hattie Larlham.

Next year’s Sugar Bush Golf Classic will be held on May 18, 2016.
