  • Written by: Pitch Engine

Portland, Ore. (April 25, 2016) – Abom, Inc., the company that developed and patented an active solution for foggy goggles, has won a gold medal for its snowsports goggles at the annual Edison Awards. The announcement was made at the Edison Awards’ Annual Gala, held in the historic ballroom of the Capitale in New York City on April 21.

The award, inspired by Thomas Edison’s persistence and inventiveness, recognizes innovation, creativity and ingenuity in the global economy. Edison Award nominees are judged by more than 3,000 senior business executives and academics nationwide.

“It’s exciting to see companies like Abom continuing Thomas Edison’s legacy of challenging conventional thinking,” said Frank Bonafilia, Edison Awards’ executive director. “Edison Awards recognize game-changing products and the teams that bring them to consumers, and Abom squarely fits into that category.”

Abom has built a portfolio of 10 granted and 36 pending patents in three groupings (structural, environmental and power management) to provide a comprehensive and rapid solution to fogging. Abom’s snowsports goggles have received worldwide recognition including Popular Science magazine’s “Best of What’s New” list and Outside magazine’s “Best of the Show” award at the annual Snowsports Industry Association tradeshow. Abom's goggles were also selected as a 2016/2017 ISPO category award winner amongst some of the most innovative outdoor products in the world.

“We’re honored to have been selected for a prestigious Edison Award in the sports and travel category, and proud that our product is being acknowledged in the space,” commented Jack Cornelius, CEO of Abom, Inc. “Our patented KLAIR™ technology eliminates fog for snowsports enthusiasts, and we’re addressing the demand for the same solution in safety and tactical industries as well.”
