Powell Gardens Announces First Major Gift to "Strengthen Today to Ensure the Future: The Campaign for Powell Gardens"

Powell Gardens, Kansas City's botanical garden, celebrates the support of the David T. Beals III Charitable Trust, Bank of America, Trustee, by changing the name of the Rock & Waterfall Garden to the David T. Beals III Woodland and Stream Garden. A $500,000 gift from the Beals Charitable Trust is the first major gift to the Gardens' Strengthen Today to Ensure the Future: The Campaign for Powell Gardens with its $18.5 million goal. As part of the campaign, this gift to the Powell Gardens Endowment will be matched dollar-for-dollar by the Powell Family Foundation to increase the endowment by $1 million.

"Powell Gardens is grateful for the support of the David T. Beals III Charitable Trust," said Eric Tschanz, Powell Gardens President and Executive Director. "The Beals Woodland and Stream Garden serves as a lasting legacy for Mr. Beals and reflects his love of the outdoors."

Strengthen Today to Ensure the Future: The Campaign for Powell Gardens addresses opportunities to increase earned income and position Powell Gardens for long-term financial stability. The Powell Family Foundation is offering a dollar-for-dollar match for all gifts, including cash and planned gifts to the endowment up to $7.5 million. A strong endowment gives Powell Gardens the ability to engage in the long-term planning critical for continuing our mission to inspire an appreciation for the importance of plants in our lives.
