May 2, 2016 — Nepris — a cloud-based social platform where teachers and industry professionals connect and collaborate through virtual, interactive sessions — gives teachers over 50 different live, interactive sessions they can broadcast into their classrooms this month. In the May, students get to meet and talk with experts from around the globe during VIS (virtual interactive sessions). Three of the most popular sessions are described below. Nobel Prize in Chemistry Mario Molina, 1995 Nobel Prize winner in chemistry, will talk about chemistry, climate change, and his life achievements as one of the most influential chemistry scientists of our time. Dr. Molina won the 1995 Nobel Prize for his research on how chlorofluorocarbons deplete the ozone layer. He was also given the Presidential Media of Freedom in 2013 for his decades of scientific research.

Detective 101 – US Marine and Los Angeles County Sheriff, Marc Jackson, will talk about the basic investigative process including giving a detailed, example case study where he explains how the process and hard work culminated in a solved case.

Fashion Design – Sana Sulaimani of Zara USA talks about how a collection is designed and the steps going into making a garment. Ms. Sulaimani gives students a peek into what it takes to create the outfits models wear during a fashion show.

With Nepris, teachers can explore all these topics with their students. Offered sessions are free to any user. Teachers with free accounts also have unlimited access to nearly a 1,000 archived sessions from hundreds of professionals covering STEaM topics like measurement in fashion design, to careers in medicine, to crime scene investigation, or on Arts topics like a session on drama and mini Lego movies.

About Nepris

Dallas-based Nepris brings STEM to life (and now STEAM, which adds the Arts to science, technology, engineering and mathematics) by connecting professionals with teachers and classrooms who need speakers, project mentors or evaluators for interactive, cloud-based sessions. Nepris makes this a turn-key process: identifying and registering professionals and teachers, matching professionals’ skills to the teachers’ needs, advising on best practices for classroom interaction, hosting the interactive sessions and tracking all the data in a social platform. See Nepris in action at Nepris.com/webinar or sign-up as a teacher or STEM professional at Nepris.com.
