SEATTLE, Wash. (Sept. 21, 2015) – With more than 25 years of setting the bar in snowboard innovation, technology, and design, K2 Snowboarding continues to push the limits with their new 2016 gear. This season, K2 introduces a fresh, new, easy-to-navigate website for an enjoyable online experience, and ride-ready boards, boots, bindings, and accessories for maximizing your fun on snow.

For 2016, K2 also unveils their White Wave collection. The White Wave is a natural return to the basic motion in snowboarding, being creative and seeking what you enjoy. It's all about being who you are. To help launch their White Wave movement, K2 is not only releasing new surf-inspired shaped boards, but also telling the story of volume.

K2 looked at the volume in a board - much the same way surfboard shapers look at volume in the boards they shape - and have shifted volume around your feet so the board glides and interacts with the snow in new ways. K2 has moved the volume from the ends of a traditional board and squashed it underfoot for better control. This makes a wider, shorter board that is more stable and easier to maneuver - plus gives you a surfy feel.

“We are super excited about this new energy in snowboarding. There is a level of ope-mindedness emerging that is allowing these types of shapes to go beyond the niche audience,” said Hunter Waldron, K2 Global Marketing Director. “They’re incredibly fun, rip a lot more than powder, and allow you to look at an average or even poor snow condition day in a new way. Ripping around with friends trying new carve variations, slashing it up, and seeing what else you can do with these shapes is where it’s at.”

Two new boards that help usher in K2’s White Wave are the Cool Bean and Carve Air. The Cool Bean shifts traditional board shapes with a shorter and fatter ride. At just 144cm, this board delivers with unlimited laydown room when carving groomers, and surfy float and glide in powder. Its proportions make the Cool Bean ride like a longer board, and let’s you forget what you know about how a board should ride.

The Carve Air (149, 154cm)features another – shorter and fatter – fun shape that is quick and nimble on all-mountain terrain. It’s most happy spinning, flipping, slush bashing, powder partying, and ripping all things awesome.

A fresh new deck hitting K2’s men’s lineup is the hard-charging Joy Driver. Inspired and developed with heavy input from team rider Lucas Debari, the Joy Driver is a versatile deck for slashing big-mountain terrain and ripping groomers. Featuring a 100% Bambooyah™ core and set-back camber, this stick is made for any situation.

The new, men’s Maysis+ boot is an upgrade from the legendary Maysis boot and features K2’s new Tailored Zonal Fit Boa® lacing system technology for micro-customization and the ultimate in comfort. The Maysis+ also offers Intuition™ Pro Form 3D moldable liners and Vibram® V4 outsoles for superior grip and durability. Add in Harshmellow® dampening and Boa®Conda™ liner lacing, and the Maysis+ is hands down the most stylish and high-performance boot to hit the snow.

The re-engineered Lien AT binding represents a breakthrough in the balance of critical support, natural flex, and movement. Featuring Tripod Technology with energy transfer pods set in three precise locations underfoot, this binding is the most biomechanically correct binding baseplate around. The Lien FS is also available, which offers a softer feel for freestyle riding.

For female riders, theWowPow is designed around the idea of limitless versatility. Perfect for everything from resort cruising to deep powder days, this medium-flex board paired with a Bambooyah™ blend core provides plenty of drive and support even if things get steep. This year’s graphic design was developed in collaboration with T & The Sea. A small maker of surfboard bags from vintage fabrics, T & The Sea’s Theresa Missiaen worked K2 designers and Women’s Alliance athletes to translate her warm, beach-inspired color palette and pattern layouts into a board graphic that inspires a surfy outlook in the mountains.

The all-new Hue is the first women’s binding to feature Tripod Technology and brings all the natural flex and feel to a top-end model. Pairing the supportive comfort of Tweekback and K2’s most comfortable straps, the Hue sets a new standard for female rippers everywhere.

The women’s Contourboot meshes high-end materials with a medium flex for go-anywhere versatility. Featuring fit-on-the-fly adjustability with the Boa® Conda system, and Harshmellow® for a smooth ride, the Contour is a favorite of K2’s Women’s Alliance Team.
