Perth Visitors Take To The Off Road For Once In A Lifetime Experiences

  • Written by: Daily Bulletin

Western Australia is teaming with unbeatable destinations, loved by locals and tourists alike. All within 500 kilometres of the Perth CBD, there are plenty of unique spots to explore and incredible sights to see.

Increasingly, Perth visitors are looking beyond the city skyline to uncover what greater WA really has to offer. With so many off-road wonders to explore, there’s no shortage of once-in-a-lifetime experiences to be had!  It is time to pack the off road camper or caravan and start exploring.

Visit the Lancelin Sand Dunes

WA is well known for its spectacular sand dunes, and this is the perfect spot to see them in all their glory. Here, towering white dunes stretch across the landscape for 220 hectares, giving you a true sense of why the locals are referred to as ‘sand-gropers.’

In Lancelin, don’t miss the opportunity to have some good old Aussie fun. Stop by the local shops and grab yourself a sandboard. Then find a smooth dune and slide down with the wind in your hair. This is a quintessentially West Aussie tradition.

Road Trip to Wave Rock

Out in the Wheatbelt, Wave Rock is one of Western Australia’s most iconic, not-to-be-missed landmarks. Shaped like a wave, the granite formation stands 15 metres tall and 110 metres long and pays homage to 2.7 billion years of erosion.

The adventure doesn’t have to end there. Visitors can also journey through the Hippo’s Yawn region, another rock formation known for its unusual shape. Don’t forget to pause and take in the sweeping vistas. These are some of the most awe-inspiring views in all of WA.

Getaway to Moore River

Moore River, in Guilderton, is just 118 kilometres from Perth, offering sightseers the chance to experience the best of West Aussie culture. Here, the river feeds into the Indian Ocean, offering up beautiful water views and incredible local wildlife.

Travellers can enjoy the chance to relax and unwind amid a slower pace of life. Alternatively, cool off from the summer heat, swimming at some of the state’s greatest beaches, or make the most of a range of nearby facilities, from tennis courts to mini golf, to cafes and barbecues. There’s something here for everyone!
