(Boulder, Colo.) April 5, 2016 – The American Mountain Guides Association (AMGA), a 501 (c)(3) educational, non-profit committed to supporting and advancing the profession of American mountain guiding, announces mobile satellite technology leader SPOT LLC, a subsidiary of Globalstar, Inc., as its latest partner. SPOT offers the lightest, smallest and most affordable satellite phones and messaging devices leveraging the newest mobile satellite communications network.

Committed to solutions for advanced safety in the backcountry, AMGA will be relying on the SPOT Global Phone and SPOT Gen3 ® to communication beyond cellular. SPOT Global Phone allows our guides to make crystal-clear calls even where terrestrial services won’t work, and the SPOT Gen3 device is capable of notifying friends and family of GPS coordinates, marking waypoints, tracking location and contacting rescue officials in an emergency.

Since 2007, SPOT has assisted in 4,000 rescues around the globe, making it a valuable tool for guides working in the mountains.

“AMGA is very excited to work with SPOT,” said Dana Richardson, strategic partnerships manager for AMGA. “SPOT products work virtually anywhere in the world and will, therefore, be incredibly beneficial to ensure peace of mind for AMGA mountain guides everywhere.”

As the Title Sponsor of AMGA Field communications, SPOT will be pivotal in ensuring the growth and longevity of American Mountain Craft. The company will offer support to AMGA, sponsoring the Annual Meeting in October 2016.

AMGA will integrate SPOT technology into its community of 3,500+ guides and aspiring guides, making the phones, messengers and services an integral resource in the mountain guiding community.

For thirty years, AMGA has been the leading organization of America’s climbing and skiing communities. World-class training and certifications to guides and aspiring guides has been at the core of AMGA’s vision. The organization is at the forefront of the growing guiding profession and offers cutting edge resources for the progression of American Mountain Craft.
