Ahead of today’s announcement of a new ABC Managing Director by the ABC Board, Liberal Senator Eric Abetz has called on the new MD to bring to an end the lefty love-in that has taken hold of the organisation.  

“The new Managing Director will inherit an unbalanced and largely centralised public broadcaster which has become a protection racket for the left ideology,” Senator Abetz said today.

“The Ultimo-centric ABC has become engrossed in group think so much so that there is complete denial of any problems.”

“In recent times, the leadership has failed to address the real concerns that have been expressed by the Australian people about the direction of the ABC. The new Managing Director must restore editorial balance to ensure that the Australian people can regain confidence in the organisation.”

In the last few months alone, we have seen:

The ABC’s own MediaWatch identified bias in the ABC’s reporting of same-sex marriage being arrogantly dismissed;

Serious questions surround the appointment of Middle East correspondent Sophie O’Neill continuing to go unanswered;

A lettuce-leaf review of Q&A which unbelievably recommended more Greens appear on the programme that failed to properly consider how someone charged with acts of terrorism who had openly launched public attacks on female journalists was allowed on the programme.
