Enjoy a short break in Perth this summer

  • Written by: Sarah Peattie

With summer just around the corner, now is the perfect time to book a short break in Perth, a city fast becoming a hub for the arts, shopping and culinary delights as well as the unique natural scenery that makes it a must-see travel destination.

Enjoying some of the best views across the Swan River to the city, Metro Hotel Perth is located less than 5 kilometres from the Perth CBD and 2.5 kilometres to the Crown Perth entertainment precinct. This iconic hotel has been part of the South Perth skyline since the 1970s and offers affordable, spacious hotel accommodation for both leisure and corporate travellers, with free parking for all guests.

To celebrate summer, Metro Hotel Perth is offering a great value Everything WA - Summer Sunset Stay package* from $155 per night, valid from December 1, 2019 – February 29, 2020. The Package includes overnight accommodation for two people in a Superior Riverview Room, welcome drink on arrival in Bills Bar (choice of wine, beer or soft drink), a bottle of West Australian Hartog’s Plate Sauvignon Blanc Semillon with a selection of local cheeses and crackers in your room, full buffet breakfast for two adults, complimentary Wi-Fi and car parking, and late checkout at 11am.

For tennis lovers, Perth has secured six of the world’s current top 11 players, including Spain’s Rafael Nadal and Russian Daniil Medvedev, to play at the ATP Cup 2020 (January 3-8).  If you are a cricket lover, you can enjoy the Australia vs India game from December 14 at the new Optus Stadium or check out the One Day series with the Australia vs New Zealand at the WACA (February 22). For those who enjoy shopping, visit Cathedral Square pop up Christmas markets (December 18-20) for hand-crafted gifts for all ages, decorations for the Christmas tree and entertainment throughout the day.  If you are looking for a short break in a great location near Sydney try parramatta apartment accommodation.

On New Year’s Eve at the Zoo, sit back and relax while the kids go on an enchanted journey with Dinosaur Train, Shimmer & Shine and the Grinch; enjoy Australia Day Fireworks at South Perth foreshore on January 26; and from December to February, visit the South Beach Sunset Markets from 5-9pm for live music, pop up bands, hawker food from around the globe and plenty of kids entertainment.

There’s also plenty of live theatre and music on at Crown Entertainment Complex Perth; two hours of live music at the Fremantle Arts Centre every Sunday throughout summer, and visitors can take advantage of free admission at Art Gallery of WA and the State Library in the cultural hub of Perth, as well as free film screens at Northbridge Piazza day and night in the summer months.

Metro Hotel Perth was awarded a Gold Medal in the Standard Accommodation category of the 2018 Perth Airport Western Australian Tourism Awards, and won the 2018-2019 Australian Hotels Association Award for Excellence.
